BiographyHistory

H. H. Champion founded the Australasian Authors' Agency in 1906, at an office in Whitehall, Bank Place, Melbourne. Champion advertised a charge for reading and advising on manuscripts, and another for getting material published, and represented writers such as Dorothea Mackellar, Martin Boyd and Marjorie Barnard.

Champion published the work of a number of Australian authors under the Australian Authors' Agency imprint, including Mackellar and Boyd, and Frank Wilmot and Capel Boake. He published a range of creative writing arising from the First World War, such as work by Trooper Gerardy, Frederick Loch and Geoffrey Wall.

Publishing ceased with Champion's bankruptcy in 1922.
