BiographyHistory

Yehuda Svoray was born of German Jewish background and lived in Israel from 1938 (when it was British-controlled, before it became a sovereign country) until he emigrated to Australia. He worked as an editor and writer for the Hebrew language daily, Ma'ariv, and from 1971 to 1975, was a correspondent for newspapers and radio in Germany and Austria. Svoray also published works on the youth movement in Israel and on geography.

Svoray was one of the founders of mulicultural broadcaster SBS, serving as Station Manager and later Program Manager. He wrote the travel book Israel Without Tears, Almost ...: Observations - Sweet and Sour (1995) and edited the Australia and New Zealand Jewish Yearbook 1985 (1985).
