BiographyHistory

John Ronald Spicer was educated at Sir Roger Manwood's School, Sandwich. In 1942 he began a stage career at Stratford-on-Avon, and between 1943 and 1946 served with the Fourteenth Army in India, Burma and Malaya. After demobilisation he returned to the stage for five years, playing in repertory, tours and television. He then went to Australia to work as a jackeroo on sheep and cattle stations in New South Wales and Queensland.

Between 1971 and 1991, Spicer was the artistic director of Goulburn's Lieder Theatre. He died in Goulburn in 2011.
