Depressed by the unhappiness of the squatter's new wife and the loss of thousands of cattle from a Texas fever, a disease carried by cattle ticks, Krotze decides it is time to leave Wrotham Park. He travels to the coast and stops at Ingham, although he is less than impressed with the town.
