BiographyHistory

Colin Duckworth was Professor of French at the University of Melbourne 1978-1988 and later Professor Emeritus and a freelance academic. He wrote extensively on Voltaire, eighteenth-century espionage and modern theatre, particularly Samuel Beckett's work. His other activities included television acting and theatre directing.

  • Duckworth also edited works by various literary figures, among them Gustave Flaubert, published a study of the novelist Leon Bopp and written on the Secret Service during the French Revolution.
