1 Judith Wright Thinks about Computers Philip Harvey , 2023 single work essay
— Appears in: Eureka Street , 12 June vol. 33 no. 11 2023;
'A scrunched, fading bookmark fell from a book. You don’t expect these things to drop out of something you picked up second-hand at a book fair. It was a cutting, a newspaper poem by Judith Wright entitled “Computers”.' (Introduction)
1 Thinking through Language : Editing Poetry in Eureka Street Philip Harvey , 2022 single work essay
— Appears in: Eureka Street , 30 January vol. 32 no. 2 2022;

'I was invited to read the poetry at Eureka Street by Morag Fraser, sometime in the mists. She shouted me coffee at the Chinese place across Victoria Street from the magazine’s Richmond offices. That was nearly twenty years ago. As we crunched on fortune cookies, she popped the question. The messages were auspicious. I’ve been editing poetry at Eureka Street ever since and have only chosen to let go of the job this summer because it’s time. It’s time for someone else to have a go. It’s time for me to make a change and create space for other creative activities, my own and others.' (Publication summary)

1 Your Poetry Questions, Answered Philip Harvey , 2021 single work essay
— Appears in: Eureka Street , 24 October vol. 31 no. 21 2021;
'Question 1: Can poetry be a roadmap? It depends. Robert Frost talks about how the road less travelled ‘has made all the difference.’ Politicians call this a dangerous detour, even a dead end, because their private attitude is ‘my way or the highway’, choices that can prove not just unpoetic, but stupid. Dante Alighieri wrote a roadmap explaining existence’s dangers and delights. Consider how poetry, all exterior sounds and figures, is regurgitation of your interior journeys. Messy, no colour-coded Googlemap. Sometimes poetry’s just a walk around the block: searching memories, a surprise flower, the guard dog that barks every time.' (Introduction)

1 Clive James' Poetry of Memento Mori Philip Harvey , 2019 single work obituary (for Clive James )
— Appears in: Eureka Street , 1 December vol. 29 no. 24 2019;

'Obituarists sharpened their quills in 2014 when word had it the death of Clive James was imminent. Since then we have witnessed a late flowering of poetry, reviews and articles tinged with mortality that revealed to the last his Twainian flair for journalistic self-promotion, albeit in the internet age. Now the quills are out in earnest.' (Introduction)

'Some poets submit their work carefully presented, bio-lines attached, picture perfect. Other poets send a cache of new expressions with commentaries, back stories, a dozen bytes of miscellanea, sometimes regardless of the submission guidelines. A handful treat the submission email address as an opportunity to mailbox every new poem that fits the bill.'  (Introduction)
