BiographyHistory

Michael Jackson is a New Zealand poet, prose writer and anthropologist. He has lectured in anthropology in New Zealand and the USA. Jackson has also undertaken extensive field work in Africa and in Australia, including periods with the Walpiri people (1989-1991) and the Kuku Yalangi people (1993-1994). Jackson's At Home in the World (1995), about the Walpiri people, 'addresses questions of belonging and being "at home", both in a landscape -- the Tanami Desert of the Australian outback -- and in a community.'
