O'Ferrall was the daughter of Hugh O'Ferrall and his wife formerly Mary Brophy, both from Limerick, Ireland. She wrote under the name 'Bohemienne' and had stories published in the Australasian and Lone Hand. Her brother Ernest O'Ferrall (q.v.) worked as a subeditor for the Sydney Bulletin and contributed light verse, stories and sketches. Nancy O'Ferrall's older sister, Laura Maude Palmer-Archer (q.v.), wrote stories of outback life in the Australian Town and Country Journal and the Australasian.
