BiographyHistory

Linda Godfrey has a Masters in Professional Writing from the University Technology, Sydney (UTS) and in 2018 was a Doctor of Creative Arts student at the University of Wollongong.

She writes novels and poetry. Recent poetry has been published in Cordite, Nine Tenths Below (2005), The Fine Print (2006) and other anthologies. She has had short stories published in SWAMP and magazines and has also performed her poetry at literary events. Godfrey has hosted Rocket readings and poetry readings for the South Coast Writers' Centre. She has had a residency at Varuna and mentorships with the Australian Society of Authors and Rosie Scott to develop her first novel, 'A Necklace of Dried Bees'.

From June 1998 to June 2004, Godfrey was a board member of the South Coast Writers Centre and until July 2003 was their representative on the Board of the Poetry Australia Foundation. She has been awarded a lifetime membership of the South Coast Writers' Centre. She has also been the program manager of the Wollongong Writers' Festival.

Godfrey has extensive experience teaching creative writing classes to adults and young people. She also works as a youth worker at a youth refuge for young people 16-18 years, and as a case worker at a supervised access centre for children 0-13yrs.
