BiographyHistory

Merckenschlager taught poetry to children in the Yemen in 1989/90, and is an active conservationist whose work harvesting native seeds for regeneration and wetlands restoration has earned grants. He has won many awards and commendations at festivals for his bush poetry, which is inspired by Australian history and the natural environment. Many of his works are available on bush poetry websites.
