BiographyHistory

Liz Winfield was educated at Mount Carmel College in Hobart. She has worked at a variety of jobs, that have included clerical work and cartographic work, watering lawns and she has also been a postie. A Tasmanian poet and reviewer, Liz Winfield instigated the weekly readings in the Republic Bar & Cafe in Hobart and coordinated them for four years.

She has edited the associated RePUBlic Readings chapbook series published by Walleah Press and has been a poetry editor for Famous Reporter. Liz Winfield has worked as a mentor and as young persons' liaison officer for the Fellowship of Australian Writers' (FAW) Tasmanian branch.

Some of her poetry writing reflects the way a rare genetic auto-immune disease has affected her life.
