BiographyHistory

Mrs E C Davidson was the president of the Melbourne Literary Club during the 1920s, wrote articles and reviews on contemporary Australian literature and encouraged the development of Australian drama. She founded the Playgoers' Club and established the Australian National Minature Theatre, able to seat 100, in her home, 'Niagaroon' in Warrigal Rd, Oakleigh, Vic., where numerous productions of Australian drama occurred. It operated from 1915 through to the end of the 1920s. Many of her own plays were performed there as were those by 'Furnley Maurice' (q.v.) and others.
