BiographyHistory

Alan Rickard was born in Sydney. His family background is Anglo-Irish and Norwegian. Rickard worked as a wool classer and a shipping and travel agent, and occasionally undertook translating from the French. He travelled widely and lived variously in Adelaide, London and Sydney before moving to the Blue Mountains. Rickard also wrote Evolutionary Materialism, the Basic Philosophy of Atheism [1975?].
