Annette Kelleher grew up in Ireland, a background which has been reflected in the intermingling of Australian and Irish cultures evident in some of her writing for children. She moved to Australia in 1978. She has also expressed her pleasure in combining fact and fantasy. Her father inspired her with his imaginative story telling and magical tricks.
