Graham Tulloch, son of John Roland Tulloch, an Adelaide architect, and Betty Margaret Tulloch (nee Vosper), attended King's College, Adelaide (1960-64) before studying English at the University of Adelaide (1965-68). After a short time at Macquarie University he completed his PhD at the University of Leicester (1969-72) where he met and married Susan Mary Bone.

Since 1973 he has taught English at Flinders University specialising in the teaching of Old English and Scottish literature, and more recently, South Australian writing. He has published widely on the Scots language and Scots translations of the Bible and has edited a number of Scottish and Australian texts including Clarke's His Natural Life, Martin's An Australian Girl and Scott's Ivanhoe. With Michael Meehan he is the author of Grammar for Lawyers.
