Brigadier Tom Gibson, an Australian who served for many years as a regular officer in the British Army, was with the Wiltshire regiment and served in several overseas postings. These locations provided the settings for several of Gibson's novels. Gibson also had a keen interest in military history and wrote a history of his regiment. He settled in Australia upon retirement.
