John Clanchy has lived in Canberra since 1975 and worked as an academic counsellor to students within the ANU's Study Skills Centre, including a period of thirteen years as Head of that centre. In 1995-96 he became Foundation Director of the Graduate Teaching Program in the Graduate School at the Australian National University.
