BiographyHistory

Eric Aarons graduated with first class honours in science from the University of Sydney. He became committed to revolutionary struggle and in 1953 was sent to a Maoist training camp in China where he stayed for three years. He returned to Australia to lead the Communist Party's education and training program. Following his brother Laurie Aarons' retirement, Eric Aarons became joint National Secretary of the Communist Party of Australia. Aarons is a sculptor and a writer, with numerous publications, including his memoirs, What's Left, published by Penguin in 1993, and a critique of neo-liberalism titled What's Right? published in 2003.
