In 1935 Murphy told the Queensland Authors and Artists' Association that towards the end of 1903 Steele Rudd "wrote me setting out the company - A.H. Davis, V. McGregor and myself - and so Steele Rudd's Magazine was born". (Horn, M., All About Books, 7 (11) 1935: p.190)
