BiographyHistory

John Cash Neild was a controversial politician who became known as 'Jawbone' due to his loquacity. During the 1870s he worked as a music and drama critic for the Catholic Evening Post. His father of the same name, a surgeon, had married Maria nee Greenwood and the family migrated from Bristol, England to New Zealand in 1853, then moved to Sydney in 1860.
