BiographyHistory

Alwyn M. Owens from the Takalak tribe, was born in Croydon, Queensland, where he was the fourth youngest of six brothers and five sisters. During his working career Alwyn had worked as a stockman around the Mount Isa, Croydon and most of the coastal regions. Later, he became a council worker as a truck driver and on part of the line gang for the railway. He also worked as a surveyor and operator in mines. And, recently as an Aboriginal night porter at an Aboriginal Hostel. Alwyn had also graduated from the University of Technology in Sydney with a bachelor degree in Adult Education and Community Management. He had also obtained an Advanced Diploma in Community Management from the Macquarie University in Sydney. Whilst studying at the Australian Catholic University at Strathfield in Sydney, Alwyn became interested in Shakespeare's writings. There he began writing poetry.
