1 It's Too Hot Alexis West , 2018 single work life story
— Appears in: Growing Up Aboriginal in Australia 2018; (p. 262-263)

'It's hot. It's so fucking hot! The smell of eucalypt bursting from the branches  fills the air mingled with melting bitumen. The heat from the tarry road cooks the soles of my feet through my flimsy thongs. Two sweaty, grumpy boys cling to each of my arms. I'm cross. I don't want their slick, sweaty hands on me. I want my space. I want them off me. They cling tighter. Ugh! I'm desperate to find us relief, to wander around the shops aimlessly in the pursuit of staying cool.' (Introduction)

'Two young women meet face to face for the first time across the bed of a dying man. Strangers to each other but bonded by blood and grief. Sisters. They break the cold silence of the hospital room to start a difficult conversation. About the past and secrets. About the women who were their mothers. And about why this man, their father, abandoned one family to make another. When the past is dying and can’t say sorry, how do you move on?

Sista Girl is an exploration of the relationship between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians, via the story of two women who share a white father. Co-written by Elena Carapetis (Gorgon) and Alexis West (Echoes …. of Knowing Home), the play will speak directly to audiences about questions of identity, grief and the complex nature of family.' (Production summary)

'King's Seal reveals the hidden history of Australia's first Aboriginal Land rights, documents the struggle for recognition of rights that were granted then denied to South Australia's Aboriginal people and exposes the breaches occurring today.'

'In 1836, the King of the British Empire (King William IV) enshrined into law the "Letters Patent", the founding document that established the state of South Australia. The King's "Letters Patent" also included a priviso that granted Aboriginal people the legal right to continue to occupy and enjoy their land for always, enshrined in law by the King's seal.'

'175 years later, this film exposes the King's Letters Patent - the denial of rights, conspiracy, treason, theft, murder and breaches perpetrated against South Australia's Aboriginal people.' (Source: King's Seal official website)
