A low-budget horror film, El Monstro Del Mar! consciously harkens back to the exploitation and creature-feature films of the 1950s and 1960s, with a deliberate rockabilly aesthetic and a great deal of gore.

'Joe Melton moves to the country for some peace and quiet. But shortly after arriving, he discovers a dark presence so disturbing that it could mean the end of the world as we know it. The Demons are among us. As the small town of Miranda Falls is slaughtered like cattle, the devil rises from his prison deep below the earth's surface. Only Joe and his talking axe can save us...but he's completely lost his marbles! When the horror reaches its bloody climax, you better pray there is a God!'

Script-writer/director Stuart Simpson says of Demonsamongus that

'I cut my teeth on DEMONS AMONG US and, to me, it feels more disjointed, probably because I was trying so many different things, and I learnt that that doesn't work. You've got to pick a style for the film and you've got to stick to it; don't try and throw everything you've got at it. [...] DEMONS stretched over a 3-year period, whereas this one with his help I was able to bang out a lot quicker. That DEMONS was shot over 3 years actually made it disjointed. I had to break it up. I almost treated it like every theme was a short film and that ruined the flow. [...] And DEMONS was 4 years ago and the quality of middle-range production levels has gone up with HD.'
