BiographyHistory

Australian pub rock band, formed in Adelaide in 1973 by Ian Moss (guitar and vocals), Steve Prestwich (drums), and Don Walker (piano and keyboards). They were soon joined by Jimmy Barnes (lead vocals) and, in 1975, Phil Small (bass guitarist).

The group disbanded in late 1983; although they subsequently reformed several times, most were for either short periods or a specific project (tour, concert, or album) rather than the end of a hiatus.

Many of Cold Chisel's songs have significance for Australian fans, particularly 'Khe Sanh', which recounts the aimlessness and post-traumatic stress of a Vietnam War veteran.
