BiographyHistory

Independent imprint, Solaris, was founded by BL Publishing in 2007 to trade alongside their existing licence-based imprints Black Flame and the Black Library. Under Consulting Editor George Mann, the goal was to publish a mix of new and traditional science fiction, fantasy and horror, by new and familiar authors alike. During its first two years of operations the company published books ranging from the hard-SF Xenopath to the madcap War Machine, and from the creepy Necroscope: The Touch to the swashbuckling Dark Lord. Solaris also published seven anthologies, including new science fiction and fantasy, steampunk, and stories inspired by the great Edgar Allan Poe.

In September 2009, Solaris was taken over by Rebellion Developments, which also publishes books under the Abaddon imprint. Both imprints are distributed to the UK and US through local divisions of Simon and Schuster.
