Television script-writer and director, who specialises in animated children's television.

As a script-writer, David Evans's earliest work was in television documentaries for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). In 1990, he was working as a producer, director, and script-writer on Indelible Evidence, a forensic science series co-produced by the ABC, the BBC, TVNZ, and West German Television: he was responsible for episodes on car insurance broker John Fairley and the 1980 Woolworths Bombing extortion. In 1991, he co-wrote (with director Christine Sammers) One Australia?, a study of racism and mutliculturalism in Australia, for the ABC.

Evans soon turned to children's entertainment, however. By the mid-1990s, he was writing scripts for Bananas in Pyjamas, The Ferals, and Feral TV. Since 2000, however, he has concentrated on scripts for animated programs, including Yoram Gross's Tabaluga (2001) and Fairy Tale Police Department (2002); Flying Bark Productions' Life Rules (2007), Staines Down Drains (2007), Zigby (2009), and The Woodlies (2012); SLR Productions' Guess How Much I Love You? (2012) and Dex Hamilton: Alien Entomologist (2008); and ASE Studios' forthcoming Vicky the Viking (2013).

Evans's work as a director frequently overlaps with his work as a script-writer. But, in addition to directing episodes of The Ferals, Feral TV, Tabaluga, and Fairy Tale Police Department, he has also directed episodes of both live-action television and animation, including G. P. (1991-1995), Embassy (1992), Seaside Hotel (2003), Blinky Bill's Extraordinary Balloon Adventure (2004), Deadly (2006), and Life Rules (2007).
