BiographyHistory

Descended from English and Scottish pioneers of the Latrobe Valley, Hilde Knörr grew up in the Moe-Warragul district, then studied music in Melbourne. She married the Bavarian-born sculptor, Hans Knörr, and began writing articles and short stories when her children were small. She published novels, short fiction, biography and poetry. She also published the non-fiction works Religious Art in Australia (1967) and Merriang: An Early Victorian Homestead (1981), a property at Myrtleford, Victoria, where Knörr had resided.
