BiographyHistory

Dexter published the Ladies Almanac: The Southern Cross or Australian Album and New Year's Gift (Melbourne, 1858) and The Interpreter: An Australian Monthly Magazine of Literature, Art & c. (Melbourne, 1861).

As Madame Carole, Dexter was a mesmerist and clairvoyant. According to Tiffany Donnelly, Henry Handel Richardson's mother consulted her ('Mesmerism, Clairvoyance and Literary Culture in Mid-Century Australia', p.105).
