BiographyHistory

Alwyn Edelman was an active member of the Hebrew congregation of the Broken Hill synagogue. He served in the Australian army during World War II and worked as an accountant in Broken Hill. His poem 'Down Five Hundred Feet' is engraved on a plaque at a memorial site near Broken Hill, commemorating the lives of two young men who were killed in a mining accident and whose bodies were never recovered.
