BiographyHistory

Cherise Saywell was born in Lismore, New South Wales, and grew up in Casino. Saywell studied English and Cultural Studies at the University of Queensland before travelling to the UK where she worked as an academic researcher and a television producer. In 2007, Saywell was awarded a UK Arts Council Bursary that enabled her to complete her first novel, Desert Fish (2011).

Saywell has won UK fiction-writing awards for her short stories which have been published in several international journals and anthologies.
