This agent masqueraded as a Protestant clergyman, whilst claiming that he was the son of French Protestant preacher Adolphe Monod (1802-1856). Details of his arrival in Australia remain unclear, however he appears to have spent an initial period in Adelaide, before moving to Sydney in early 1861, where he was subsequently exposed. He then appears to have moved to Auckland, New Zealand, where he again masqueraded as a Protestant clergyman, under the name 'Emilius Morod'. In December 1869 he was convicted in the New Zealand Supreme Court of uttering a forged cheque, and was imprisoned for 4 years. Further biographical details remain to be established.
