— Review of Time Taken : New and Selected Edition Les Wicks , 2022 selected work poetry
'Time Taken, the New and Selected Poems of Les Wicks, marks a poetic golden anniversary and samples from some fourteen previous volumes. It is also a highlights reel in the way a Collected Poems is an autobiography. More than these, though, it is a reminder of how pungent, street-smart and inventive his reflections are on the life he has lived and the lives that have milled around him. He is sometimes so whip-smart that he risks but mostly avoids trailing into the smart-arsery of a less empathic writer.' (Introduction)

1 2 y separately published work icon The Fickle Pendulum Paul Scully , Carindale : Interactive Press , 2021 23779416 2021 selected work poetry

'A Fickle Pendulum assays belief and doubt through three historical figures - St. Thomas the Apostle, Galileo Galilei and Laura (Riding) Jackson - and uses them to pivot into wider thematic worlds. The writing is thoughtful, exploratory and never weighed down by its subject matter, and the language vibrant and rich in metaphor. The reader ineluctably mixes Paul Scully's meditations with his or her own.'  (Publication summary)

— Review of A Passing Bell : Ghazals for Tina Paul Kane , 2018 selected work poetry

'Paul Kane’s A Passing Bell abounds in phrases that could be extracted as summaries of the work.  I chose the above to capture the tones of litany, compulsion and grief that pervade it and the striving for some species of beauty that is part of all poets’ motivation.' (Introduction)
