BiographyHistory

Australian Poetry Limited (APL) began operations in January 2011. It was formed by the merger of the New South Wales Poets' Union and the Melbourne-based Australian Poetry Centre (qq.v.) and was run, initially, by Paul Kooperman (q.v.). Australian Poetry Limited promotes itself as Australia's 'peak industry body for poetry'. APL is based at the Wheeler Centre, Melbourne; its charter is 'to promote and support Australian poets and poetry locally, regionally, nationally and internationally'.
