BiographyHistory

Vince Coulthard grew up in Nepabunna, South Australia, and has devoted his life to the protection and preservation of Aboriginal culture. He has worked for both government and private enterprise. Vince is director of Umeewarra Aboriginal Media Association, a position he has held for over sixteen years (as at 2010). He is chairperson of the Adnyamathanha Traditional Land Association, a position he has held for the past eleven years (as at 2010), and director of the National Indigenous Radio Service (as at 2010). Vince is one of the founders of the Iga Warta community, and previously held the position of elected ATSIC Regional Councillor for nine years. He has been the recipient of various awards, such as a Premier's Australia Day Award and a Federation Medal from the Federal government: both awards recognise his lifelong commitment to the Aboriginal community. Vince has also been recognised by the South Australian NAIDOC committee as 2004 Male of the Year, 2005 Person of the Year, and 2007 Elder of the Year.

In 2011Vince was awarded the Slim Dusty Community Mateship Award.
