BiographyHistory

Charles Granquist joined the AIF on the outbreak of World War II. He served in North Africa and Greece and was captured in 1941 and contained in prison camps in Europe from which he made five attempts to escape. Granquist returned to Australia after liberation. He wrote of his experiences of war in his autobiography A Long Way Home (2010).
