BiographyHistory

Camerawork Pty Limited, formerly O'Rourke and Associates, produces and distributes documentary films, in particular the films of Dennis O'Rourke. Founded in 1981 and initially operating out of Canberra, the company's production office and studios were later established in Cairns (North Queensland). As with O'Rourke and Associates, CameraWork's productions are primarily concerned with exploring social issues. The stories can be about Australian people and issues or feature stories about people and events in less-developed parts of the world. The company has produced numerous documentaries over the past thirty years in association with major television networks and organizations both within Australia and overseas.

Among the best known films produced by O'Rourke and Associates/CameraWork are: The Shark Callers of Kontu (1982), Couldn't be Fairer (1984), Half Life: A Parable for the Nuclear Age (1985), Cannibal Tours (1988), The Good Woman of Bangkok (1991), Cunnamulla (2000) and Land Mines - A Love Story (2004).
