Isabel Weale was a journalist and music teacher. She came to Queensland in the early 1860s with her husband, surveyor George Telford Weale. They initially lived at Ipswich and Toowoomba. Following his death in 1886, she then moved to Brisbane, where she established a music and vocal school, having herself studied music at Queens College, London. She later took up a position with the Brisbane Newspaper Company, and as 'Delphia' succeeded Alice Ham ('Hafra') as editor of the women's section and social pages of both the Queenslander and Brisbane Courier. She also evidently contributed items to English magazines. She retired from full-time journalism in 1902.
