Jackeroo Lirrawi is the grandson of Jawoyn man, Yiworrondo, or Jungle Dick, and the nephew of
Lulu Jilimbirrnga. As his English name suggests, he spent his younger years working as a stockman for Elsey Station. His Aboriginal name, Lirrawi, means 'black cockatoo' and is a mark of his connection to Gurrayan, a black cockatoo place at Goondooloo, a small property immediately to the north of Elsey.
