BiographyHistory

Dale Weston was born in the back of a utility on the Mutarnee-Ingham rail line in Far North Queensland. His stepfather was an itinerant stockman, shearer and canecutter. His mother, Violet May, came from Bogantungan, near Julia Creek and worked as a domestic on various stations throughout Queensland and the Northern Territory.

Weston has been painting since very early childhood. After a serious accident in the late 1990s prevented him from finding work as a boilermaker, he taught himself dot art and found it came to him naturally. Since that time his work has been in high demand. Source: Gathering of Dreams : A Collection of Works by Aboriginal Artists Dale Weston and Sally Harrison (2008)
