'Imagine that instead of today’s bustling shopping and cafe district of Bondi Beach, where travellers from all corners of the world gather to socialise in their finery, exchange information about conditions and attractions elsewhere and engage in industry, there is … exactly the same thing.'  (Introduction)

1 A Fresh Canvas : The Uluru Statement Is Headed for Referendum Stephen Fitzpatrick , 2019 single work essay
— Appears in: The Monthly , May no. 155 2019; (p. 32-41)

'The article offers information on the agreement related to the Uluru statement. Topics include that the Uluru Statement proposed Indigenous voices, on Indigenous Australians' behalf; Statement from the Heart has been mistaken for poetry, and it certainly can inspire, as the best manifestos do, but it sprouts from the fire-readied seeds of public policy reform; and discusses that proposal had been based not on any polling, but simply on the fact most referendums have been unsuccessful.' 'Fans of Australian author Andrew Masterson's crime/horror fiction will have been delighted this week by news that a film version of his award-winning "The Second Coming" is almost ready to be made. In the more traditional funding world, last week Screen Australia announced a $5.5 million investment in three feature film projects, including one by Rolf de Heer in which the veteran filmmaker will collaborate with David Gulpilil. Called "Charlie's Country", it describes itself as "an uplifting tragicomic portrait of one man's struggle to define himself as an Aboriginal in modern Australia". The others are "Predestination", a science fiction/crime thriller by writer-director brothers Michael and Peter Spierig (Daybreakers) and is based on a story by sci-fi author Robert A. Heinlein; and "Wolf Creek 2", by director Greg Mclean.' Stephen Fitzpatrick.
