1 1 Cimarron Sally Lewry , 2014 single work drama

'A call to the wild, Cimarrón speaks to an aspect of humanity which is all but lost. This work of contemporary performance aims to evoke an instinctual and primal element – to reveal the savage beast that lingers behind our social façades. It challenges and interrogates conservative Australia and urban lifestyle. It is a call to reclaim our place within the wild and awaken our inner beast, to reconnect.

'Bold and evocative in its imagery Cimarrón employs the physical body to explore diverse representations of the savage and civilised, offering an alternative view of the female form – a stark contrast to mainstream culture.

'The Spanish word Cimarrón refers to that which cannot be tamed – slaves that have escaped captivity to live on the edges of society.

'Are we slaves to the socio-political structure we ourselves created?

'Raw and visceral, Cimarrón will entice us to look at ourselves from a new perspective.' (Source: http://metroarts.com.au/posts/cimarron/ )

1 Back of Burke Sally Lewry , 2009 single work drama humour '"Back of Burke" shares stories about being the black sheep within an eccentric suburban family, led by a brilliant lunatic, my father. Exploring and celebrating the people and events that shape us and discovering the person one has become, "Back of Burke" takes a raw and humorous look at what life and family can throw at us, and the ways in which we learn to survive.'
