Ray Kelly is a community leader, artist, playwright and storyteller. Growing up in an Aboriginal settlement on the outskirts of Armidale, Ray is driven by his dedication to reclaiming Aboriginal language and culture. Somewhere in the Darkness was the first play written by an Indigenous person to be produced by Sydney Theatre Company. In 2006, Ray Kelly was awarded a Doctor of Letters in recognition of his contribution to the Indigenous community at regional, state and national levels. He has also received the Newcastle Playwright's Award. Ray Kelly is a descendant of the Djungutti and Anawain people.
