BiographyHistory

Polly Sumner is an Indigenous photographer. Sumner was born in and spent her early childhood at Point McLeay in South Australia before moving to Adelaide.

Sumner has worked for the Aboriginal Heritage branch of the South Australian Department of Environment and Planning and as Acting Director of the Aboriginal Community Recreation and Health Services Centre in Adelaide. In 1987, Sumner travelled to Port Augusta and photographed the Indigenous community there for a photographic essay in After 200 Years: Photographic Essays of Aboriginal and Islander Australia Today (1988).
