BiographyHistory

Charlotte Anley was sent by Elizabeth Fry to Australia in 1836 to prepare a report on conditions of female prisoners. She stayed until 1838 and also worked as a governess. A Quaker, she was a composer and wrote novels, some with brief Australian refernce, e.g. Earlswood (1852).
