BiographyHistory

Johnny McHughes is an Elder of Goolwa in South Australia and served as a Representative of the State Elders Council. McHughes used to visit Raukkan as a child. He has lived on Lake Alexandrina, Langhorne's Creek and at Morphett Vale in the southern suburbs of Adelaide and at Wellington before moving to Goolwa in 1947, where he remained. McHughes' grandfather was a Preacher at Raukkan and a stonemason who built the church there. McHughes worked at a flax mill, for a dairy farmer on Hindmarsh Island, and as a fisherman, before working for the local council for thirty-three years.
