Perry, a successful British design executive, is attempting to create a new design colour, which he calls 'Siam sunset.' His life is unexpectedly turned upside down, however, when his wife is killed in a freak accident that involves a refrigerator falling from an aircraft. Perry subsequently decides to get away for a while and purchases a ticket to go on a bus tour of Australia. He soon meets up with a group of eccentrics, including a woman who has stolen cash from her drug-dealing boyfriend. As the narrative unfolds, it becomes clear, too, that Perry is accident-prone and constantly being drawn into unlikely situations.

'In one day successful city lawyer, Laura Gibson's world falls apart. Suddenly she realises she no longer knows her husband, her children, or where her all-consuming career is going. On a whim, Laura grabs at a position as magistrate in the small coastal town of Pearl Bay and with two bewildered kids in tow sets off to change their lives forever.'

The Wayne Manifesto takes us into the world of twelve-year-old Wayne Wilson, showing us the world as Wayne would like it to be and the world as it really is. When his family move to their new home, Wayne wants nothing more than to fit in and keep out of the way of the school bully. He befriends the laid-back Squocka, the self-reliant Violet, and the young, energetic Rosie, and takes on his new life with enormous optimism.

The program has a strong magic-realism component in Wayne's active imagination and the way in which he uses this to manipulate the viewer's sense of his reality.

'It's 1968. Sixteen-year-old Sonja leaves her alcoholic father and troubled past, gets on a bus and never looks back. Twenty years later she decides it's time to find out what she was running from. Single and pregnant, she returns to the migrant worker's camp in the Tasmanian Highlands she once called home and finally uncovers the truth she wasn't told as a child.'
