BiographyHistory

Mollie Dyer was an activist for Indigenous rights specialising in issues of Indigenous children in white foster and adoption families. Her mother was the Aboriginal Activist and author Maragret Tucker (q.v) who wrote the book If Everyone Cared and who was removed from her family due to government practises.

Dyer worked at the Aboriginal Advancement League and the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service before establishing the Aboriginal Child Care Agency in Victoria in 1976. She attended the First Australian Conference on adoption in 1976 and travelled to the USA to explore adoption practices there.

Her autobiography was posthumously published in 2003 as Room for One More: the Life of Mollie Dyer.
