BiographyHistory

Mary Cox was removed from her family at the age of six years at the request of her non-Indigenous father and sent to Beagle Bay Mission. Cox was reunited with her family as an adult. She has lived in Halls Creek and Boome and is the founding member of the Bobieding Community.

Cox's story was recorded by the National Library of Australia for the Bringing Them Home oral history project and appeared in the associated publication Many Voices: Reflections on experiences of Indigenous child separation, edited by Doreen Mellor and Anna Haebich (2002).
