Bradley Appo was eight when he was taken from his mother. While in foster care, Appo was given the opportunity to ride horses from the age of thirteen. Working in Taroom, Appo was trained to muster, handle, and break in horses. Bradley Appo followed his older brother Lyall Appo (q.v.) into the thoroughbred racing industry to pursue a career as a jockey.
