Film and television director, producer and writer.

Tom Jeffrey worked extensively in television during the 1960s both with the ABC (Australia) and the BBC (UK). One of his more notable productions for the ABC was serial Pastures of the Blue Crane (1969). In 1973 he joined Air Programs International in Sydney, and two years later directed his first feature film, an adaptation of David Williamson's 1971 play The Removalists.

Awarded an A.M. (Member of the Order of Australia) in 1981 for his services to the Australian film and television industry, Jeffrey's career has also included being Secretary of the Producers' and Directors' Guild. In this position he played a pivotal role in lobbying the government for support to make feature films. He has also been closely associated with the National Institute for Dramatic Art (NIDA) as a Board Member and Chairman. Jeffrey's career was further recognised in 2005 when he was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award by the Australian Directors' Guild.

Tom Jeffrey is also the author of Film Business: A Handbook for Producers (1995).
